Crossmix, G.H.A.M.M.A., N.A.M.E., and H.A.D.J.A, Work
Together To Aid Hurricane Katrina Victims In Houston

"If
we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation
gone under." --Ronald Reagan
The leadership at
Crossmix join all Americans in expressing our deepest sympathy for the
victims of Hurricane Katrina. What we have all seen on television has
left such powerful images of destruction and the enduring overflow of
water from the broken levees in New Orleans, as well as the full-blown desolation
of Biloxi, Mississippi, and other cities in bordering states have been
beyond comprehension.

Our thoughts and prayers go out the millions of citizens who have lost
loved ones, homes, and livelihoods as a result of this disaster. Their
lives will be changed forever. The
annihilation caused by the flood, will affect the exiled citizens of New
Orleans for months and years to come. May we all continue to pray and do
what ever we can as fellow citizens
to reach out to those who are homeless, without hope and needy until
they get their lives back to normal. Let us not forget them.

Crossmix will be coordinating relief efforts by aiding and serving the
needs of the Hurricane Katrina victims in Houston, Texas starting
Thursday, September 8, 2005. Board Member Mike Mirales placed a call to
Executive Director Ray Martinez, and asked that any DJs in the immediate
Houston area or surrounding cities can actually use their DJ skills to
make announcements, play praise music, lead worship, lead prayer, and
even make alter calls.

In a show of unity and DJ politics put aside, The Greater Houston Area
Mobile Music Association (G.H.A.M.M.A.), The National Association of
Mobile Entertainers (N.A.M.E.), and the Houston Chapter of The American
Disc Jockey Association (H.A.D.J.A.) will all join forces by providing
sound systems to remote locations outside the Astrodome.
There are a number
of locations that are in need of sound systems to provide church
services for those without a place of worship. If you would like to get
involved please contact Crossmix Board members Mike Mirales at (832)
766-0448 or Ray Martinez at (714) 412-0852. G.H.A.M.M.A

Crossmix Non Profit Status
A positive ruling from the
Internal Revenue Service has just come to Crossmix. We have been waiting
for over 6 months as papers were filed to receive a non profit status
(501 c.3). The IRS has ruled that we are now officially a non profit
organization from December 1, 2002 through December 31, 2006.
What does this mean?
Crossmix has been working to continue to share the Gospel and keep
giving hope to people in need. We are continuing our ministry by handing
out free literature, bibles, and also providing guest speakers at trade
shows, as well as having our phone lines open to share God's Word. By
offering all of this, we are now allowed by law to accept gifts, tithes,
and offerings, to continue this ministry.
How can you help?
As you know, we do not have a paid staff, all the efforts by Crossmix
members are voluntary. A total of $700.00 has been officially collected
in the last year, and a total of $150.00 has been spent as a scholarship
was granted to a member to accept the first Christian DJ of the Year
Award as voted by the Board of Directors. So as of May 20, 2003, the
Crossmix bank account balance is $550.00.
In order for us to continue our ministry at trade shows in Orlando,
Atlantic City, and Las Vegas, we are asking for members to prayerfully
consider tithing a gift of any amount so that we can continue to provide
the resources for those in need.
Now that we have a non profit status, your gift will be tax deductable.
We will provide you with a receipt for your gracious gift.
If you believe in what we are doing, please consider a one time or a
monthly gift. Please make your checks payable to:
Crossmix
P.O. Box 5511
Goodyear, AZ 85338
In advance, we at Crossmix thank you for your consideration and your
prayers.
Mobile
Beat Show Brings New Members To Crossmix
The Mobile Beat DJ Show at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas proved to be
a great show for Crossmix. Highlighting the show was not only a powerful
seminar presentation by Jim Gray from True Lies, but the addition of
eleven new members to Crossmix.
Just about every state in the U.S. is
represented as well as members from Canada and Hawaii. We welcome our
newest members and we are here to serve you.
Harvest 02-Angels at Home, Even When On The Road
Anaheim, CA July 2002-The Anaheim Angels Baseball Club might be
on the road playing against teams in the American League, but while
they’re away there are plenty of angels in attendance as the 2002
Harvest Crusade was kicked off in grand fashion. Hanz
Ives, leader of the Harvest Crusade Band welcomed the crowd and asked
them to stand up and join in the singing of "His Love Endures
Forever." The Crusade Band followed with "Rock of
Ages...Jesus is the Rock", and "Never Gonna Stop." They
concluded the set with "In That Day."
Highlighting the musical entertainment to start this year’s
crusade were old favorites, 2001 Christian Country Musician of the
Year, Dennis Agajanian and 2000 Grammy Nominee for Pop Contemporary
Gospel Album, Crystal Lewis. New to the Crusade this year was an
independent group named Salvador. I’ll tell you more about the
featured artists in a moment.
Harvest 02 is a crusade to reach out to the masses to share the
Gospel of Jesus Christ by Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian
Fellowship in Riverside, CA. Laurie, has led the crusade now in its
13year. It has been an incredible experience to see how far this
crusade has come in 13 years.
It started out at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa, where
over 90,000 people came to hear Laurie present the Gospel in such a
contemporary fashion. Since 1990 over 2.7 million people have attended
the crusades, and over 220,000 have come forward and made decisions to
follow Jesus Christ.
The Harvest Crusade has grown so large that they even have web casts live on the internet. This is truly a mission that unites
more than 200 churches from over 20 denominations to spread the great
news of Jesus Christ and his love. Another unique feature you will
find at the crusade is the foreign language translations in Spanish,
Korean, Arabic, and Vietnamese as well as for the hearing impaired.
Although the crusade started back in 1990, it was actually a
vision in the late 80’s that was brought about by Pastor Chuck
Smith, of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. The Harvest Crusade has now
branched out to Winston-Salem, NC, Hawaii, and even down under to
Australia.
Dennis Agajanian has always been a crowd favorite with his
incredibly fast picking guitar. Dennis came to the stage and performed
"Devil on the Run." He then shared how we have all had a
rough year this year since September 11, and introduced his song,
"Where Were You?" Dennis really tugged at the people’s
hearts with this heartfelt song about the tragedy.
He sings, "Where were you when the world stopped turning
on that September day?" As he sang, a video showing several
photos taken that day and the days following that horrible event was
shown on the big screen at Edison Field.
He is such a wonderfully gifted musician, that he even received
a special invitation to the White House from President George W. Bush,
commemorating the National day of Prayer.
Agajanian, is
also featured with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Franklin
Graham Crusades, as well as Promise Keepers.
Harvest 02, was rockin’ when Salvador came to play. The group
hailing from Austin, Texas had some tight horns that were reminiscent
of the famous rock group Chicago, with the funky sound of Tower of
Power, yet they also had a great salsa Latin beat with a Santana
flair, that had the house up on their feet dancing in the aisles. They
performed two hot songs, “Lord, I Come Before You” and
“Montana”. Although, I may be new to the Christian music scene,
Salvador is one of the freshest Christian bands, I’ve heard since
the Katinas, who also performed at Harvest the closing night.
Salvador, are led by vocalist and songwriter, Nic Gonzales.
They actually started out as a church praise band, with Nic, brother
and drummer Art Gonzales, and cousin Josh Gonzales, Salvador’s bass
player.
The highly enthusiastic Latin-pop band, are fresh with
enthusiasm, energy, funk, as well as phenomenal musical talent.
Their music is catchy, and you can bet that when you hear their
songs of praise sung with joy you are without a doubt on the road to
salvation. Rounding out the roster of these Godly musicians are Eliot
Torres (Percussion), Chris Bevins (Keyboards), Pablo Gabaldon
(Trumpet), and Billy Griego (Trombone). If you hear about Salvador,
coming to a church, concert hall, or even a dance hall, treat yourself
to a great night of worship and dance to your heart’s content as you
celebrate your new life with Jesus.
What can you say about Crystal Lewis that hasn’t been said
about this beautifully gifted soulful contemporary Pop Gospel singer?
Crystal
opened her set with "Beauty for Ashes." And then followed
with "People Get Ready."
Pastor Chuck Smith came to the podium and asked the audience to
have an attitude of prayer and reverence and to not distract anyone
around them who might be close to making a decision to follow Christ.
Crystal then finished the set singing "Great is Thy
Faithfulness." as the audience to joined in.
The title of Pastor Greg's message was "A Second Chance in
Life" from the Gospel of John, Chapter 3. He shared how sometimes
we wish we could press the "delete" button and wish we could
start over in life. He shares how some of us don't like the course our
life is taking, and wish we could change. He also went on to say that
only through Christ, we can change, or be born again. Many people
don't like that expression, but the Bible shares how we have to be
"born again" to see the kingdom of God. If we want to KNOW
that we are going to Heaven, we have to be "born again." He
continued by saying how going to church doesn't make us a Christian
any more than going to Krispy Kreme's doesn't make us a doughnut!
He shared from the gospel of John, how Nicodemus asked how we
can enter the kingdom of
Heaven and Jesus said that we cannot enter the kingdom of God unless
we are born again. In
today's world we can relate to someone like Nicodemus. He was a
Pharisee, devoting his life to the study of the 10 Commandments, a
very "religious" leader, and a very intelligent person.
Although Nicodemus was full of knowledge, had plenty of power, and was
very famous, he was a very lonely and empty person. Many people think,
"If only I were famous," then I would be happy. Pastor Greg
shared about people like Elvis and even one of today's biggest
Hollywood celebrities, Toby McGuire, star of the "Spiderman"
movie, who have made famous quotes about how lonely they are.
Pastor
Greg communicated also about some of the wealthiest people on earth,
and how wealth does
not fill the void in their lives and compared that to the wealth of
Nicodemus, and how he went to see Jesus by night...maybe he was afraid
of what others may think.
Christ
is giving people a chance to be born again. He said that “Nicodemus
was probably an older man when spoke with Jesus, and how it is
dangerous it was to continue to say no to the gospel message.” Many
people put off giving their lives to Christ. “You are never too old
to give your life to Christ....you are never too young either! If you
continue to put it off, it may be too late. If you continue to say no
to the Holy Spirit, you may commit the unpardonable sin, the blasphemy
of the Holy Spirit.” Pastor Greg related to the crowd, “Tonight is
the night to give your life to Christ! You need to be born again.”
Pastor Greg went on to say how Jesus shared with Nicodemus,
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever would believe in Him, would have eternal
life." Pastor Greg shared that everybody needs Jesus...that to
"believe" in Jesus means to put your complete faith and
trust in Jesus. It is necessary to reach out and take this gift. If we
only would put our trust in Jesus Christ, admit that we are a sinner,
repent and turn away from our sins, and simply ask Him to forgive our
sins, HE will do it. HE promises us, that He will give us eternal
life. Pastor Greg then prayed and invited those who would like to make
a profession of faith, to make their way down to the field and be
"born again", now was the time to do it!
Hundreds of people started to come down to the field as Crystal
Lewis sang "Come Just as You Are." As people continued to
make their way down to the outfield, Hanz and the Harvest Band sang
"Today's The Day."
The first night 22,000 attended with 2,222 making a decision
for Christ. The second night Pastor Greg spoke to a crowd of over
45,000 that filled Edison Field with a powerful message titled “What
Is The Meaning of Life?” Upon conclusion of the message over 4,200
people responded to Pastor Greg’s invitation to come down to accept
Jesus Christ as their Savior. Closing night, 33,000 made their way to
the stadium and over 2,900 people came Christ. The numbers were
phenomenal, 100,000 in three days, and 9, 322 stepping forward. The
Big A in the parking lot, has a halo that is usually lit up, symbolic
of an Angels victory. Although the halo was not lit up concluding the
crusade you should know, the angels were rejoicing in heaven as well
as at Edison International Field and the whole stadium was lit up with
smiles. There were tears of joy and happiness as lives were changing.
What a great victory for the angels.
Overall, the Harvest 02 was outstanding and beneficial to all
who attended. What an incredible sight to behold as God worked
miracles in peoples lives as Pastor Greg Laurie continues in his
obedience by preaching the Gospel in such an effective manner. Harvest
is a great blend of contemporary entertainment, praise and worship
music, clean comedy, and the un-compromised Word of God fed to
ordinary people who can relate to today’s issues that affect our
everyday lives.
Pastor Greg Laurie, can be heard on radio with “A New Beginning”
in all 50 United States, and in the countries of Australia, Canada,
South East Africa, United Kingdom.
To listen to broadcasts on radio or on the web, you may get more
information at www.harvest.org.

Delivering The Word In Chicago
By
Ray Martinez
June 2002, Chicago, IL- My kind of town, Chicago is… No doubt
about it, a great town. Chicago, was everything Frank Sinatra sang
about. Wrigley Field, (A baseball dream) the subway ride, the hot
dogs, the people, the skyline, O’Hare Airport (What a nightmare),
The Sears Tower. What a thrill it was to be at the Mobile Beat Summer
Show in the Windy City. There was an excitement in the humid air that
has never been exemplified at this show. Although the turnout was
smaller than expected, the results that came out of this trip far
exceeded what I thought would happen.
This trip was about building relationships. I met new people
that I never would have met, and what a joy it was to receive positive
e-mails from folks that needed to hear the Gospel. There were so many
people that made this trip necessary.
Mike Buonaccorso, Show Producer, and Iris Fox, Advertising
Director from Mobile Beat who were extremely generous to us, and made
my stay truly a memorable and blessed one. Their efforts were
outstanding.
There were also three major companies that helped us out with
our mission to spread the Gospel, by way of donating publications free
of charge. Good News Publishers who publish Crossway Books, donated
the free Bibles that were distributed. The response for free Bibles
were incredible. They were gone the first day. RBC Ministries, donated
100 copies of their great daily devotional, Our Daily Bread, as well
as tracts on “Why You Should Believe in Christ, Rather Than
Religion.” If you are too busy at work, but need only five minutes
of morning devotions, Our Daily Bread is exactly what you need to jump
start you in the morning. Finally, The Pocket Testament League,
donated copies of the Gospel of John. My home church, Yorba Linda
Friends Church, Yorba Linda California, gave away 25 copies of their
praise group CD’s. The worship music we had at our chapel was
awesome thanks to YLFC. The music also sounded great, thanks to our
good friend John Brown at American Audio. Whenever we have needed
anything from John, he has never turned us down, he as always been
there for us and a great man and a true friend. Bob Lindquist, my
Co-Founder of Crossmix, your support of this ministry is so valuable
beyond what you may dream of. Richard Gastmeier of ERG Music, has been
extremely supportive by supplying Nu Music Traxx, his tremendous line
of the latest and hippest Christian Music, as well as his devoted
sponsorship of Crossmix. Ryan Burger of ProDJ.com., his unselfishness
and commitment has been tremendous in his keeping the Crossmix Website
updated also at no charge. Crossmix members, Paul Shupe, Keith
Chapman, and Joe Martin, what a blessing you guys were to me at the
show. It’s members like them who make Crossmix the association that
we are because of their enduring strength and positive attitudes. Two
other people who have had a great impact on this ministry and are
great friends are Matt Martindale and Mark Ferrell. These men have
been called to be leaders in our industry and I have the utmost
respect and admiration for them and I cherish their wisdom and input.
I think that the greatest thrill for me, was receiving an
e-mail from a DJ, who was absolutely touched by receiving a Bible. She
said that she always believed in the power of prayer but lost faith
for a while. She came back and that she was thrilled to be owning a
Bible for the first time. It’s so encouraging to know that we are
doing the right thing.
The support has been unbelievable. I met a brother in Christ,
John from New Jersey, who inspired me to continue doing God’s work.
The load has been sometimes too much for me to do, but his words of
wisdom have greatly encouraged me to keep pressing on.
I enjoyed speaking to a group of 33 people at our first DJ
Chapel, considering it was at 8:00 AM. I never expected that many to
show up. The topic was “God’s Little Secrets on Success, Integrity
and Character.” In years past we have had M.C. Hammer, Bob,
Carlisle, Peter Merry, and Matt Martindale as guest speakers for
Crossmix.
Crossmix, will continue in our efforts to bring the Gospel to
our industry. We are looking for any ideas or topics that you would
like to be discussed at our next DJ Chapel. This ministry has been
formed to encourage, enlighten, inform, and speak truth about God,
your relationship with Jesus Christ and running your business
successfully. We are also here to lift you up in prayer, and keep you
informed about Christian Music including ideas and songs to
incorporate into your show. If
you would like to be a guest speaker for our DJ Chapel at the 2003
Mobile Beat Show in Las Vegas, or help out at a booth, or be a liaison
for Crossmix please contact Ray Mar at DJRayMar@aol.com,
or call at 714-632-9202 for further information.

MERRY
CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
T'
WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
PLASTER AND STONE.
I
HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO
IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.
I
LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.
NO
STOCKING BY MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.
WITH
MEDALS AND BADGES,
AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
A SOBER THOUGHT
CAME THROUGH MY MIND.
FOR
THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,
I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.
THE
SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.
THE
FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT HOW I PICTURED
A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.
WAS
THIS THE HERO
OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?
CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
THE FLOOR FOR A BED?
I
REALIZED THE FAMILIES
THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS
WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.
SOON
ROUND THE WORLD,
THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.
THEY
ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.
I
COULDN'T HELP WONDER
HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.
THE
VERY THOUGHT
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
I DROPPED TO MY KNEES
AND STARTED TO CRY.
THE
SOLDIER AWAKENED
AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
"SANTA DON'T CRY,
THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;
I
FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS."
THE
SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,
I CONTINUED TO WEEP.
I
KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,
SO SILENT AND STILL
AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.
I
DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
SO WILLING TO FIGHT.
THEN
THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,
WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA,
IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."
ONE
LOOK AT MY WATCH,
AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

This Is My Story
By: Tony Alonso
Each
morning we wake up to a new dawn, a new day, and a new start. Each
afternoon we go home, go a meeting, or go to a gig. With each evening we
lay our heads down and fall asleep awaiting the next dawn, the next day,
the next new start. What is your story?
I
have grown up in the best of times and the worst. I have been there and
done that with many aspects of my life. I have been on the top of the
mountain shouting out to the world and demanding attention. I have also
sat in the valley in hopes of the attention of an ant...yet it just
crawls on by.
With
every morning I am faced with a choice. Will I choose to make the best
of every situation, or lie down in defeat when things do not go my way?
I have a choice whether to follow my God, my heart, or my
temptations and shortcomings. I can choose to use my talents or
focus on my failures. I and only I, have the ability to write
another chapter in the book of life.
You
see life is what you make of it. You will come across times that are
out of your control or situations, which may be out of your hands. It is
what you do during those times that when you look back on, you will see
whether your book will be a best seller or one that doesn't even get
published. This is my dawn, my day, and my new start. This is my story,
what's yours?

Thanksgiving Prayer
By Abigail Van Buren
O Heavenly Father:
We thank Thee for food
and remember the
hungry.
We thank Thee for health and remember the
sick.
We thank Thee for friends and remember the
friendless.
We thank Thee for freedom and remember the
enslaved.
May theses remembrances stir us to
service.
That Thy gifts to us may be used for others. Amen
While we are enjoying
our Thanksgiving Dinners, watching football, and relaxing let's thank
God for our troops who are defending our freedom and keep them in
prayer. We thank them for all they do for us.

"Lord,
hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they
protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they
perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus,
our
Lord and Savior. Amen."
Of all the
gifts you could give a US Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine &others
deployed in harm's way,
Prayer is the very best one.
Iraq in the Bible & the Koran
Since America is
typically represented by an eagle, Saddam should have read up on his
Muslim passages. The following verse is from the Koran, the
Islamic Bible:
Koran 9:11 For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a
fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout
the lands of Allah, and, lo, while some of the people trembled in
despair, still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the
lands of Allah; and there was peace.
1. The Garden
of Eden was in Iraq (Genesis 2:10-14)
2. Mesopotamia which is now Iraq was the cradle of civilization.

Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do
you know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that
is not the name that is used in the Bible. The names used are
Babylon, Land of Shiner and Mesopotamia. The word
Mesopotamia means "between two rivers", more exactly between
the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq means
"country with deep roots". Indeed Iraq is a country with deep
roots and is a very significant country in the Bible.

Woodrow Wilson, the twenty-eighth
President of the united States, once stated, "A nation which does
not remember what it was yesterday does not know what it is today, nor
what it is trying to do." Well, the question for us is, what
were we yesterday? Furthermore, does that nation of
"Yesterday" resemble what we are today or what we are now
becoming?
I
do not believe that we are now living and working in America envisioned
by our forefathers. Despite the opinions that often fill the
media---no matter how loud they may seem---this country was in fact
founded upon the very principles of God's Word. This makes
perfect sense, as we see in Psalm 33:12, "Blessed is the
nation whose God is the LORD." For many generations, America
was organized, directed, and steered on biblical principles. The
result was a country that enjoyed more blessings than any other has ever
imagined. We've been given freedom, prosperity, strength,
influence, and global respect. We've led the world in many
technological, economic, and social advancements. We've even lent
our strength to other countries when their own safety was endangered.
We have certainly been a nation blessed by almighty God.
However,
the twentieth century brought a dramatic shift away from our
foundational principles. How long will God continue to bless a
nation that consistently turns Him away one decision at a time?

Hurricane Faith
by Tony Alonso
"Then I saw four angels standing
at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds
from blowing upon the earth. Not a leaf rustled in the trees, and
the sea became as smooth as glass. And I saw another angel
coming from the east, carrying thee seal of the living God.
And he shouted out to those four angels who had been given power to
injure land and sea, 'Wait! Don't hurt the land or the sea or the
trees until we have placed the seal of God on the foreheads of hi
servants." (Revelation 7:1-3)
I have to admit, I was getting
excited. The commotion was stirring and the radio was on. The Channel
6 News had been interrupting the regular scheduled programs
with emergency updates. All I could think of was will they be
open and if so, for how long. There wasn't much time left and plus
if I waited too long, they could be sold out--if there was ever
a time in the history of Florida to make my move, now was the time. I
hung up the phones and headed out. I had to get to the
"Guitar Center."
Sure, you might think that there are
more important things during this time than two new Mackie SRM 450
speakers, however when was the last time you could get a pair for
under 1200 dollars? My thoughts exactly. Life is all about
priorities.
Unfortunately, all the stores were
closed and my cell phone kept ringing with friends, family and my
fiancé giving me the latest. A tornado touched down here, a storm
front there, lighting striking around the corner, and a cat stuck in
a tree. The tornado being reported five miles away didn't bother me
as much as the cat in the tree, poor thing had to be getting soaked
and we all know how much cats love water.
I still have a few hours till the
hurricane hits, and with the change of direction reported, it looks
like I might have a target on my house. Luckily, with modern
technology I have time to prepare and I have time to make sure I am
ready for this force of nature.
However, there will be a point in
the not so distant future that we will be taken by surprise. There
will be no warning, and no Super Duper Doppler in the world will be
able to detect it. With a force so strong, the tombs will be pushed
aside, and in a blink of an eye, we will be on our way to
Heaven. For Christians, this is something we look forward to even
more so than a new set of powered speakers. For those who are not
prepared, it will be the worse experience to date. I encourage you
today to pray for those who are not saved and do your part to warn
them of the upcoming storm--not one that progresses through the
alphabet, but one that will have eternal consequences.

Being a Vessel to Bless Others
One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another
withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he
who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. Proverbs 11:24-25
One of the reasons God entrusts money to us is to bless other Christians
by meeting their needs. God uses the transfer of money within the Body of
Christ to build unity among Christians. Sometimes we withhold money that
God has designated for someone else. He wants to bless through us, but His
will cannot be accomplished through us if we are disobedient.
This was the case for a business owner who tells of the time when God told
him to forego a company bonus one year. God directed him to share his
year-end bonus with an employee to show his appreciation for him. He
wrestled with God for three full days before obeying the Lord on the
matter. When he finally met with the employee to give him his check, the
man said he had been praying about a financial need he had three days
earlier. He had decided to borrow the money to meet his need. The amount
of money he borrowed was the exact amount the business owner gave him.
God had already planned to provide for the employee through the business
owner, but because he was hesitant, he almost missed the opportunity to be
an instrument of God in this man's life. Even so, he could have prevented
the man from having to borrow money. It was an important lesson for the
business owner.
How many people do we let down because we feel the "harvest" God
provides is all ours? In America, the pressure is always on to move up the
ladder of material accumulation. Jesus warned us about this. If our focus
is on accumulation, we will not look for opportunities to be God's vessels
of financial blessing to others. Ask the Lord if you have an open hand
when it comes to finances.

THE
SOLDIER
I
want you to close your eyes and picture in your mind the soldier at Valley
Forge, as he holds his musket in his bloody hands.
He
stands barefoot in the snow, starved from lack of food, wounded from
months of battle and emotionally scarred from the eternity away from his
family surrounded by nothing but death and carnage of war.
He
stands tough, with fire in his eyes and victory on his breath. He looks at
us now in anger and disgust and tells us this...
I
gave you a birthright of freedom born in the Constitution and now your
children graduate too illiterate to read it. I fought in the
snow barefoot to give you the freedom to vote and you stay at home because
it rains.
I
left my family destitute to give you the freedom of speech and you remain
silent on critical issues, because it might be bad for business.
I
orphaned my children to give you a government to serve you and it has
stolen democracy from the people.
It's
the soldier not the reporter who gives you the freedom of the press.
It's
the soldier not the poet who gives you the freedom of speech.
It's
the soldier not the campus organizer who allows you to demonstrate.
It's
the soldier who salutes the flag, serves the flag, whose coffin is draped
with the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag!!!
"Lord,
hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in
our time of need. Amen."

Pleasing Clients
By: Tony Alonso
1
Thessalonians 2:4 - but just as we have been approved by God to be
entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please men, but to please
God who tests our hearts.
What a feeling! You might know what I
am talking about. The crowd was pumped, the music selection was tight,
and every formality or event fell perfectly into place. At the end of
the night you are swarmed by guests telling you what an awesome
job you did and a nice tip from the client. Life couldn't be better.
Then there are those events when you
feel an atomic bomb landing in the middle of the dance floor wouldn't
be enough to get people out of their seats. You hit wrong buttons,
your equipment isn't cooperating, and the client wants to change
everything last minute. You feel completely drained and disappointed.
Being a mobile DJ has its ups and
downs. We are constantly on an emotional roller coaster and always
having to adjust to things that are constantly out of control. We do
our best to deal with situations and hope our best is good enough. We
spend hours trying to learn new techniques and new ways of tweaking
our show in hopes that we can please our clients.
No wonder we tend to think the same way
about our spiritual life. What can I do to please God. Everything I
try seems to fail and even though I consider myself a good person, I
always sin and I always fall short of God's expectations. So what tip,
or trick, or new event, can I do to make God happy? The difference
between our DJ jobs and our spiritual jobs is simple. Technology is
always changing. What works last year may not work this year. What
dances packed the floor one event, may flop on your next one. However,
the Bible, is the only tool we need. It is the same yesterday, today,
and forever. What worked back in the day, works with us today. Just as
we focus day in and day out on reading new manuals, looking on-line
for new tips and tricks, we need to also take time out to read our
manual for this life on earth.
In the end, that is all that really
matters. If you think you feel on top of the world after a flawless
event, just think of how you will feel when the only client that will
ever matter walks up to you and says, "Well done, good and
faithful servant."

Real Leaders Read God's Word
My words are wise, and my thoughts are
filled with insight (Psalm 49:3,
NLT).
Great leaders, who are wise, regularly turn to the Bible. Feeling uneasy
one evening before a major battle in the Pacific, General Douglas
MacArthur turned to his Bible, which was his regular practice, and read
until he felt at peace. Then the general went to bed and slept
soundly, even though the battle the next day would play a significant role
in the course of World War II.
General George Washington, our first President and father of our country,
said, "It is impossible to rightly govern... without God and the
Bible." The first time I visited his Mount Vernon home, the
guide took me to the place where morning and evening General Washington
knelt to read his Bible and pray.
Another general, Ulysses S. Grant, 18th President, said, "I believe
in the Holy Scriptures, and whoso lives by them will be benefited
thereby..."
General Andrew Jackson, who became our
seventh President, in referring to the Bible, stated, "That book,
Sir, is the Rock upon which our republic rests."
Why did these and thousands of other leaders, and also scholars and vast
numbers of lay people, choose the Bible? Why not Shakespeare, or a
great novel, or a discourse on philosophy?
The answer is clear: The Bible is God's Word to man. It has the
power to bring peace, happiness, comfort and guidance as no other book in
the world can do. Generals Washington, Mac Arthur, Grant and Jackson
knew this, as have many great leaders and others down throughout history.
If the Bible is so vital that even great leaders turn to it in times of
crisis, all of us should no less turn to it in our everyday lives. About
itself, the Bible says: "All Scripture is inspired by God and is
useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in
our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right"
(2 Timothy 3:16, NLT).
"All your words are true" (Psalm 119:160, NLT). "Every word
of God proves true" (Proverbs 30:5, NLT). "The Scriptures cannot
be altered" (John 10:35, NLT).
"Forever, O LORD, your word stands firm in heaven" (Psalm
119:89, NLT).
Thank God for giving us the Bible. Through it, God has revealed
Himself, His own thoughts, attributes, commandments, promises, plan of
redemption, and the future, as well as many other things.
I cannot imagine what life would be like without God's holy inspired Word.
Thankfully, we do not have to find out.
Yours for helping to fulfill the Great Commission each year until our Lord
returns,
The Late Dr. Bill Bright

Don't Forget the Resurrection!
John MacArthur
In 1874, a Baptist minister named Robert Lowry penned one of the most
stirring hymns to ever exalt the resurrection of Jesus Christ--"Low
in the Grave He Lay."
Notice how these verses contrast the
impotence of death and suffering with the resurrection power of Christ:
Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior;
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!
Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus my Savior;
Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!
Death cannot keep its Prey, Jesus my Savior;
He tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!
Death, man's most dread enemy, is powerless to reign over the Lord of
life. And that truth has significance for you and me, here and now in the
twenty-first century. You can see it in the most exciting and rousing part
of Lowry's hymn, the refrain that punctuates each stanza:
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o'er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!
Do you see in those lines what Jesus' resurrection means to you? If you
are a Christian, you can rejoice in the fact that Christ rose from the
dead as a victor, a champion who lives forever to reign, "with His
saints." That refers to the promise based on our baptism into the
death and resurrection of Christ--it is our hope and the reason and ground
of all we believe.
But what if there were no resurrection? What if the resurrection of
Jesus Christ is just a first-century myth to be ignored or marginalized as
a secondary issue? The implications of that approach are devastating to
Christianity.
I want to draw your attention to what Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians
15:16-19 so that you can see what happens when you forget the
resurrection.
For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; and if
Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your
sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have
perished. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all
men most to be pitied.
Without question, if Jesus is still in the grave, if He is perpetually
the sufferer and never the Victor, then you and I are hopelessly lost. And
though that is not the case, I want to focus on the hypothetical
"what if" that Paul assumes temporarily in 1 Corinthians 15.
"What if the resurrection were a myth? What if Jesus Christ were
still dead and in the grave?"
First of all, you would still be in your sins, under the tyranny of
death along with the most vile and unbelieving pagan. If Jesus did not
rise from the dead, then sin won the victory over Him and continues to be
victorious over you too. If Jesus remained in the grave, then, when you
die you would also stay dead. Furthermore, since "the wages of sin is
death" (Romans 6:23), were you to remain dead, death and eternal
punishment would be your future.
The purpose of trusting in Christ is for forgiveness of sins, because it
is from sin that we need to be saved. "Christ died for our sins"
and "was buried, and ... raised on the third day" (1 Corinthians
15:3-4). If Christ was not raised, His death was in vain, your faith in
Him would be pointless, and your sins would still be counted against you
with no hope of spiritual life.
Second, if there is no resurrection, then "those also who have fallen
asleep in Christ have perished." That means every Old Testament
saint, every New Testament saint, and every saint since Paul wrote would
be suffering in torment at this very moment. That would include Paul
himself, the rest of the apostles, Augustine, Luther, Calvin, Wesley,
Moody, and the faithful and prayerful saints you've known--every other
believer in every age also would be in hell. Their faith would have been
in vain, their sins would not have been forgiven, and their destiny would
be damnation.
In light of the other consequences, the last is rather obvious. "If
we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be
pitied." Without Christ's resurrection, and the salvation and
blessings it brings, Christianity would be pointless and pitiable. Without
the resurrection we would have no Savior, no forgive ness, no gospel, no
meaningful faith, no life, and we could never have hope for any of those
things.
To have hoped in Christ alone in this life would be to teach, preach,
suffer, sacrifice, and work entirely for nothing. If Christ is still dead,
then He not only has no ability to save you in the future, but He can't
help you now either. If He were not alive, where would be your source of
peace, joy, or satisfaction now? The Christian life would be a mockery, a
charade, a tragic and cruel joke. Christians who suffer and even die for
the faith would be just as blind and pathetic as those
"believers" who followed Jim Jones and the People's Temple,
David Koresh and the Branch Davidians, and Marshall Applewhite and the
Heaven's Gate
cult.
Since a Christian has no Savior but Christ, no Redeemer but Christ, and no
Lord but Christ, if Christ is not raised, He is not alive, and our
Christian life is lifeless. We would have nothing to justify our faith,
our Bible study, our preaching or witnessing, our service for Him or our
worship of Him, and nothing to justify our hope in this life or the next.
We would deserve nothing but the compassion reserved for fools.
BUT, God did raise "Jesus our Lord from the dead, He who was
delivered up because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our
justification" (Romans 4:24-25). Because Christ lives, we too shall
live (John 14:19). "The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you
had put to death by hanging Him on a cross. He is the one whom God exalted
to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel,
and forgiveness of sins" (Acts 5:30-31). We are NOT to be pitied, for
Paul immediately ends the dreadful "what if" section by saying,
"But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of
those who are asleep" (1 Corinthians 15:20). As Paul said at the end
of his life, "I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He
is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him [i.e. his life] until that
day" (2 Timothy 1:12).
Those who do not hope in Christ alone for salvation are the real fools;
they are the ones who need to hear your compassionate testimony about the
triumph of Christ's resurrection. So don't forget the resurrection;
rejoice in it and glory in it, for He is risen indeed.

ONE LINERS TO THINK ABOUT
God
promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.
He
who angers you, controls you!
If God is your copilot - swap seats!
Prayer: Don't give God instructions -- just report for duty!
The task ahead of us is never as great as the power behind us.
The will of God will never take you to where the grace of God will not
protect you.
We don't change the message, the message changes us.
Don't
wait for the hearse to take you to church.
Life has many choices. Eternity has two. What's yours?
It's hard to stumble when your down on your knees.
A clear conscience makes a soft pillow.
Can't sleep, then count your blessings.
Don't let the littleness in others bring out the littleness in you.
To
belittle is to belittle.
Wal-mart isn't the only saving place!
You
can tell how big a person is by what it takes to...
discourage him.
God answers knee mail
The best mathematical equation I have ever seen: 1 cross + 3 nails = 4
given.
"Father, bless the person reading this in whatever it is that You
know he or she may be needing this day."

Let
your light shine before all men, so they can see your good works, and glorify
your Father who is in Heaven. (Matthew 5:16)
"Play something we can dance to. Everyone will have fun if you will put
this song on next. Give us something with a beat."
As DJ's we have all come in contact with clients and guests who feel they are
experts in the art of the mobile disc jockey and feel their years of car stereo
navigation gives them the privilege to inform us of what to and not to play. It
is during these times that we tend to feel the sudden urge to whip out a
"Best of Techno Polka" CD or perform the ever so popular chicken dance
marathon. However, more times than not, we get annoyed, upset, and sometimes
angry. It is during these times that we can let a word or action come out, which
in turn, can ruin our witness.
God calls each of us to be the light to the world. We are constantly being
tested and our patience tried. Those who are not Christians want to see us fail.
Some even take joy in breaking us down. But, we have to know in every aspect of
our lives, we are to shine. Each event we perform at allows us to be in the
spotlight. Not just in the company we own or represent, but also for God. We
share Christ though our actions. Sure, breaking out a Bible and telling the
middle school heathens to repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand, probably
isn't going to go over to well. Baptizing annoying guests into the dance floor
rarely generates a very high tip, and laying hands on the catering staff for not
having the toast prepared in time will lessen the chance of a future referral.
However, each instance whether a trial or a triumph, gives us the opportunity to
let our light shine.
This week, I encourage you to take a look at your performance and actions while
you are DJ'ing. When something does not go as planned, how do you react? How can
you handle a situation in a way to bring glory to Christ? What ways can you let
your light shine? Remember to do everything out of love and compassion. We all
know how it feels to leave a venue after a great performance. Just think of how
great it will be to leave knowing you made more than just an entertainment
impact, but one that might lead a client or a guest to Christ. God Bless and
Keep the Faith!
